Punch needling is a lesser-known fiber arts technique that uses a tool to “punch” yarn through fabric.

Punch needling creates tiny yarn loops on fabric, most closely resembling rugs and carpets. You can use punch needling to create small rugs, pillows cases, purses, bags, and

 

To get started, all you need is yarn and a punch needle, and a DIY guide. There are different size punch needles available for different types of punch needling art, but for beginners, I recommend a standard punch needle and #4 medium yarn weight.
